The Lai Times

February Favorites

Again another month has passed before my eyes. This one went especially fast since I was watching the Winter Olympics from beginning to end. The closing ceremony was amazing! Seeing all the athletes celebrating their accomplishments together and just living in the moment — no words can express what they must have felt that night. And let us not forget the little boy, Yang Tae Hwan rocking it out on his guitar at such a young age and the other young boy, Oh Yeon Joon who sang the Olympic song (both who I watched perform on Youtube years ago, go search them up and you will be in for a treat!). Those two have such bright futures! And can we stop and talk about Yuzuru Hanyu! I have loved watching him since the last Winter Olympics and this Olympics he didn’t disappoint! I’m so happy and proud and ecstatic of everything that he has accomplished at his age. And the raining of the Pooh bears after he finished! As a fellow Pooh bear lover, I couldn’t help but laugh at all the commotion it created. But the cherry on the top was seeing EXO (the EXO-L inside of me was screaming for them) and CL come out and sing in front of everyone!  So much talent in one stadium!

As I was mostly in front of the TV watching the Olympic games, this month’s favorite has a lot of food!

  1. Trader Joe’s Fair Trade Organic 72% Cacao Belgian Dark Chocolate Bar
I first found this bar of chocolate during my last year of college. While waiting to check out at Trader Joe’s I saw the stand that had all types of chocolate bars and gummies. Being a lover of dark chocolate and being a college student, I immediately chose the dark chocolate bar that was the cheapest. The first bar I ate so fast I had to make another trip to Trader Joe’s the same week! This past month I ate maybe 2 bars of this stuff it was so good! If you have a Trader Joe’s by you, go and try this chocolate bar out!

  2. Breyer’s Lactose Vanilla Ice Cream
I have been told that being Asian can up your chances of becoming lactose-intolerant, though I don’t know how valid that is, most of my Asian friends are lactose-intolerant or slowing becoming so. I love ice cream and cheese, which is why even though dairy products upset my stomach and usually makes me break out, I eat it anyways along with taking a Lactase enzyme supplement. However, since I found this Lactose ice cream, it has been a game changer in the number of times I eat ice cream a week. Before I would eat it once every two weeks or even once a month. But, since I found this ice cream and the Olympics are on, I have been eating two scoops of Lactose Vanilla ice cream with a gluten-free brownie (I make a batch and keep them in the freezer) almost every other day without fail! When I would go to Cold Stone Creamery, I would always get Sweet Cream ice cream and a warm fudge brownie mixed together. But now I can eat it at home AND its lactose and gluten-free! GOALS!

  3. Laneige Multiberry Yogurt Repairing Mask
As it’s been getting colder here, we started turning on the heater during the mornings and right before we get into bed to warm up the house a little. However, since we started doing this, I noticed my skin getting really tight and dry. Digging in the drawer in the bathroom, I found a sample size of this and decided to try it. Right after I get out of the shower, I would slather my face in the mask (which smells like strawberry yogurt and makes me want to eat it!) and wait 15-20 minutes before rinsing it off and beginning my night time routine. I have been doing this twice a week and I felt the difference after a week of using it.

  4. Tennis Balls
Because the past two months I’ve been sitting at my desk for many hours at a time, and my neck and shoulders have been getting really tense. Using my knowledge from my classes, I went out and bought tennis balls. I already have a foam roller at home, but it’s not great for stretching out your back or the knots since its too big. But a tennis ball is a great size to reach those pressure points and release them. I usually put the tennis ball between me and a wall and move around until my neck and shoulders are massaged. However, if I am feeling really tense, then I’ll lay on the ground with the tennis ball under me and use my weight to get a really deep massage for my back.
  5. International Delight CINNABON Classic Cinnamon Roll creamer
This stuff is what makes my mornings! When I was in college, taking a trip to the mall as a de-stressor also meant getting a Cinnabon Cinnamon ice coffee. Growing up I didn’t really care for the flavor of cinnamon, but THIS IS JUST SO GOOD!♥I may add more creamer than necessary into my coffee, but it’s just soooo good! From December until now, I have purchased this creamer more than four times, it’s that good! And paired together with my new favorite coffee bean from Costco, it just enhances the flavor of the creamer. Since I found this combination I have been drinking more than my one coffee a day.

I still can’t wrap my head around the fact that the Winter Olympics are over and there is only one day left in February. It’s crazy! The thing that keeps me going is that even though two months have almost passed and I may have a lot of things that I didn’t accomplish this month, I still have ten more months to pull it together and finish as many things as possible!! On a side note, a lot of people have been asking me about my fashion style, so I’m thinking of writing a post on some of my favorite pieces of clothing and accessories I have out in my closet right now. Be sure to look for that in the coming weeks! Looking forward to spring and all the pretty flowers that will bloom soon!

Every day, Lai day! Have a good day and an even greater tomorrow! ♥
